How to Create Brilliant Website Reporting With Little Effort

In Web Analytics, Web Business Tips by Matt Chiera

Google Analytics is a powerful platform to analyze your website’s traffic data, however creating custom dashboards to track key metrics requires a lot of know-how and time. However, there’s a way to track the important data for your site without being an analytics pro – templates!

Google allows you to add templates that other people have created as dashboards in your Google Analytics. All you need is a link to their dashboard template.

But where to find the template links?

You could find a digital marketing expert to help you out by providing a few of their dashboard template links, or Google offers a “Solutions Gallery” with TONS of dashboards other people have created: https://www.google.com/analytics/gallery

Mmm, sweet, sweet reporting.

Once you have the link to the template you want to install, the process to add it for your website’s Google Analytics is simple.

Here’s the step-by-step:

Step 1: Log into your Google Analytics account by visiting this URL:http://www.google.com/analytics. Then access your Google Analytics.

Step 2: Click on the Google Analytics dashboard template link that you want to import into your Google Analytics. Here’s a sample dashboard I created to track high-level mobile data that you can use to test, my gift to you: Mobile Google Analytics Dashboard

Step 3: Select the “View” (website) that you would like to add the dashboard to. Make sure to select “All Web Site Data” if you want this dashboard to be applicable to all data for your website.

If you’re seeing this then you’re on the right track.

Step 4: Hit the “Create” button and the dashboard will appear with your website data in it. If you want to check this dashboard later, it will be stored in your “Dashboards” tab in Google Analytics.

Now that you have dashboards installed, you can assess the effectiveness of your website and digital marketing campaigns. Reach out to us if you need help understanding the data:
