How to Track In-Store Visits for Retailers in Google Ads

In Web Business Tips, Google Ads, Marketing by Matt ChieraLeave a Comment

Google has finally gone live with the “Per Store Report” in Google Ads. You can now track how many people engaged with a company’s ads and then visited their physical locations as a result. This is a game-changer for retailers who use Google Ads.  The report also allows you to view how many people requested driving directions, called the store, and visited the website from the company’s Google My Business listing…all in Google Ads.

The report is pretty easy to find:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Go to the “Locations” tab.
  3. Click on the “Geographic Report” drop-down menu.
  4. Select “Per store report”

Note: In order to track visits to specific locations, you do need to have the store’s locations set up in Google My Business and linked to your Google Ads account.

To link your Google My Business to your Google Ads account (classic view):

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Click the Ad Extensions tab.
  3. Select View: Location extensions from the drop-down menu above the extensions table.
  4. Click + Extension
  5. Below “Request a link,” enter the email address associated with your Google My Business account, then click Request.
